New Life Resource Guide
Wednesday, November 26, 2008

The City of St. Charles in conjunction with the Citizen’s with Disabilities Advisory Board has introduced its newly produced Life Resource Guide.  This unique compilation of resources received support and funding from the city.  It was developed under the auspices of Chairman Dave Heusing.  Larry Muench, Ward 2, is the City Council representative spearheading the project.

The St. Charles resource guide – entitled the Accessibility Guidebook for People with Disabilities – was unveiled at a November St. Charles City Council meeting.  The guide contains information outlining a variety of resources, including City Services, Dining, Lodging, Entertainment and Transportation.  The resource section of the guide is extensive, covering Employment and a wide range of topics related to Independent Living.

Factored into the unique aspect of this guide is the fact that Mr. Heusing and his team personally visited the various facilities listed/recommended to ensure their qualifications and offerings, including physical accessibility.  The writer on the project was Jeanne Gibbons of The Resume Project and Terri McClain of McClain Creative served in the capacity of graphic designer.

Some 10,000 copies of the guide were produced by Universal Printing and will be distributed locally via Delta Center for Independent Living, Paraquad, Community Council of St. Charles County, physician offices and a host of area service agencies.
