Elm Point Levee Breach in St. Charles Impacts Truman Road at 370
Volunteers for sand-bagging efforts no longer required; hotline established for residents, business owners.


WHO:    The Elm Point levee, which broke at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, has not resulted in any voluntary or mandatory evacuations in the city of St. Charles.  According to Rich Oney, of the St. Charles Fire Department, flooding continues to be limited to a soccer park and a sod farm.

    At this time, residents at Deerfield Village have not been impacted by flood waters.  Likewise, the New Towne at St. Charles is unaffected.

The only road closure at this writing is Truman Road south of I-370; ramps at 370 are currently closed.  In addition, volunteers are not needed for sandbagging efforts.

WHAT:      In order to provide up-to-date information related to flooding, the city has established a hotline number.  For more information and inquiries, residents and business owners are encouraged to contact the city’s Department of Public Works as follows:  636-255-6153.

WHERE:      Saint Charles, Missouri – north of the city near Fountain Lakes and Huster Road.

WHEN:    Current flood stage update as of Tuesday, June 24 @ 2:00 p.m.

ALSO:    This is a Mississippi River levee breach; there is no similar activity or concern along the banks of the Missouri River in St. Charles.  In fact, historic Main Street remains high and dry, as well.
