St. Charles Flood Update
St. Charles Emergency Management Team Advisory
WHO: The City of St. Charles and Mayor York’s office in conjunction with the St. Charles Emergency Management team issued the following advisory outlining rising flood waters associated with the Missouri River. The city’s Emergency Management Team will be fully operational monitoring current elevations and related levees for a 48-hour operational period. It is expected that river levels will crest on Wednesday; the Missouri flood stage in St. Charles is 25 with the current stage today at 31.3.
WHAT: Here’s a summary of current activity and related assessments in the city of St. Charles:
- For public safety purposes associated with elevation issues and limited visibility, Frontier Park and DuSable Park are closed to the general public until further notice.
- Current road closures include – North Main at Tecumseh Street and Hawning Road at Midwest Recyclers. Additional flooding may also be imminent on the Old South River Road. There is no official word as it relates to potential closures on Highway 94. Drivers should adhere to road closure signage and avoid driving through standing water.
- The city has already communicated personally with all residents and business owners affected or to be affected by the rising waters.
- There will be no access to Bishop’s Landing, including boat ramp access; this area will be closed until further notice for public safety purposes. This includes the Lewis & Clark Boat House and Nature Center as flood waters have limited access to this facility as well.

ALSO: In the event of an unforeseen emergency, the American Red Cross will have a shelter facility available in North County St. Louis located at 315 Howdershell Road. No events or activities currently scheduled in St. Charles have been cancelled. More information will be available as river crests and related projections continue to be monitored.
