Pending flood waters around the region not expected to impact St. Charles Historic District

WHO:    Mayor Patti York and David Rosenwasser, director of the Greater Saint Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau, made a joint announcement this afternoon to ensure local residents and visitors the city is not currently impacted by flood waters nor do they expect to be as rivers crest this weekend.

“Fire Chief Ernie Rhodes has been monitoring river levels and working closely with Emergency Management contacts and the Army Corps of Engineers.  We feel both confident and fortunate at this point that the Missouri River will not peak at flood proportions,” York said.  “Likewise, we encourage area residents and business owners to help our neighbors who aren’t as fortunate.  There are many communities requiring services and support related to sand-bagging and other efforts in preparation for the rising waters.  But when the work is done, feel free to stop by and relax in St. Charles for we have a host of events taking place this week and beyond.”
