Tuesday, August 05, 2008
The Tour of Missouri, the state’s elite professional cycling race featuring international cycling teams covering over 600 miles September 8-14, will be in St. Charles on Saturday, Sept. 13. Race officials are seeking up to 300 local volunteers to help make this international event a seamless success.
"Volunteers are vital to making a race of this caliber a success," said Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder. “The tremendous support and hospitality of the communities we travel through allows the Tour of Missouri to accommodate the thousands of fans we anticipate visiting the state during the Tour, as well as the world-class roster of athletes that participate in the race. Please show your pride in Missouri and your hometown by contacting the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce and volunteering to be part of the Tour of Missouri."
Volunteers are needed for a number of tasks ranging from course marshal and site decoration, to security, media relations and medical control support. Those interested can apply online at www.tourofmissouri.com, hit the “race info” button, then go to the “get involved” section, or call the St. Charles Chamber office directly at 636-946-0633 to volunteer in the St. Charles area.
