International Cycling takes Center Stage as Tour Rolls through St. Charles County
Saint Charles serves as finish host for Tour of Missouri, Stage 6; Augusta, O’Fallon on race route as ‘pass through’ cities
WHO: World-renown cyclists will once again put St. Charles County on the map this year when Stage 6 of the Tour of Missouri rolls through the region. Team HYPERLINK "http://www.tourofmissouri.com/garmin-chipotle.html" \t "_self" Garmin-Chipotle of the United States and Team HYPERLINK "http://www.tourofmissouri.com/liquigas.html" \t "_self" Liquigas of Italy -- two top-performing entrants from the recently completed Tour de France -- head a list of 13 teams that have been added for the Tour of Missouri world-class cycling event, September 8th – 14th, throughout the Show Me State. It is also anticipated that some 15 to 20 Olympic athletes from the Beijing Games will be announced in the near future.
WHAT: Stage 6 of the Tour will depart from Hermann, MO at 12:30 p.m. and is expected to finish in
St. Charles around 4:15 p.m. The 96-mile road race will include three Mich ULTRA King of the Mountain Points and two Edward Jones sprint lines in the towns of Augusta and O’Fallon. The racers will enter the St. Charles area at approximately 3:15 p.m.
The course route will proceed through the intersection of Highway B and Boschertown Road in the city of St. Charles. From Boschertown, the race will continue through town as follows:
. Little Hills Expressway
. Mel Wetter Parkway
. North Fifth Street
. Clark Street
From eastbound Clark Street, the race will continue southbound on Riverside Drive past the Foundry Art Centre finishing south of First Capitol Drive along the Missouri riverfront at Frontier Park.
