St. Charles Bicentennial Committee Hosts Saint Charles Star Competition

WHO:   This coming fall, the St. Charles Bicentennial committee will host the city’s very own anniversary version of Saint Charles Star.  Patt Holt of the Patt Holt Singers is the managing entity behind the local vocal talent auditions.  Given this is St. Charles’ 200th anniversary, only residents of the city will be eligible to participate.  Proof of residency will be required at the time of tryouts.  Applicants between the ages of 12 and 15 will compete in the Junior Star category, and individuals age 16 and older will compete in the Adult Star category.

WHAT:   Applications for the competition are available online at www.stcharlescitymo.gov (please link to Bicentennial information as highlighted on the home page of the city’s website).  All interested parties should submit their completed applications to the Tourism office located at 230 South Main Street on or before Thursday, September 17.  Bicentennial highlights may also be found on the tourism website at www.historicstcharles.com.

NOTE:  Application deadline has been revised in order to ensure area high school students have an opportunity to participate in the audition process.

WHERE &   Greater Saint Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau – 230 South Main Street
WHEN:       (All tryouts to be held in the tourism office)
. Junior Star & Adult Star
 – tryouts will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Mon., Sept. 21. (REVISED)
. Semi-finals – follow up "call back" competition will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Mon., Sept. 28 for both Juniors and Adults at the CVB office. (REVISED)
. Finals
-- Saint Charles Star winners will be selected during the 2:30 p.m. competition to be held Sunday, October 11 at Wapelhorst Park (1875 Muegge Road).

ALSO:   The Saint Charles Star winner in the Junior category will receive a scholarship from the Patt Holt Singers and Dancers.  The winner in the Adult category will receive a scholarship from Lindenwood University.  Anyone with questions related to the tryout procedure, should call Patt Holt directly at 636-947-0120.
