Bicentennial Continues on March 28 with Three Flags Ceremony

WHO: Members of the volunteer planning committee for the St. Charles Bicentennial have arranged to hold a Three Flags Ceremony as part of the anniversary kick-off weekend. This event is a celebration of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, when the flags of Spain, France and the United States of America were displayed in St. Louis as the Louisiana Territory was being turned over to the U.S. All events and activities are free and open to the general public.
WHAT: Featured in the line up will be The Lewis & Clark Fife and Drum Corps as well as period reenactment characters. A town crier will begin to rally people on Main Street starting at 10 a.m., with follow up ceremonies in the park to include cannon, mortar and musket demonstrations. The Corps of Discovery will also be involved, and there will be period reenactment activities staged near the Missouri River.

WHEN: Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
ALSO: The flag ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. with primitive skill demonstrations on display throughout the afternoon. Members of the Show-me Morgan Horse Club will provide the dispatch rider. Military representatives will include the French colonial artillery, the U.S. Infantry/Rangers, the Discovery Corps, and the Milicia de San Carlos artillery.
