Tuesday, January 13, 2009

On Tuesday January 6, 2009, the St. Charles City Council passed bill # 9833, which amends Chapter 73 of the code of Ordinances of the City of St. Charles by adding a new section, to be known as 73.41, to read as follows:

73.41 Commercial Deliveries in the Historic Downtown District Prohibited During Certain Hours.  It shall be unlawful for any vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 32,000 pounds or more to encumber Main Street within the Historic Downtown District, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. daily, for the purpose of making a commercial delivery.

Enforcement of this ordinance will begin immediately with an initial emphasis on education of violators through the use of warning tickets.  Repeat offenders will be issued summonses for the violation to appear before the St. Charles Municipal Court.

Effective February 2, 2009 a strict stance will be taken by the St. Charles Police Department in reference to any observed violations of the ordinance.
