City to Participate in Missouri's Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday

WHO: On August 19, 2008, the St. Charles City Council approved Bill No. 9709, which is an ordinance whereby the City of St. Charles is able to “opt in” for Missouri’s Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday scheduled to take place April 19-25, 2009.
WHAT: The new sales tax holiday is the direct result of Missouri Senate Bill 1181, which focuses on energy efficient (energy star certified) appliances up to $1,500 per appliance. The state gave local municipalities the option to participate in the holiday by adopting an ordinance and sending it to the Missouri Department of Revenue 45 days prior to the event.

WHEN: Sunday, April 19 through Saturday, April 25, 2009
St. Charles Bill No. 9709 was sponsored by Councilmen Bob Kneemiller and Richard Veit.
ALSO: According to the Missouri Department of Revenue, Taxation Bureau, the City of St. Charles is on record as opting into this upcoming tax holiday. They in turn notify the participating vendors in St. Charles who sell the following energy efficient appliances that qualify for the sales tax exemption:
. Clothes washers . Refrigerators
. Freezers . Dishwashers
. Water heaters . Furnaces
. Air conditioners . Heat pumps
