Grant Money Supports New Recycling Bin Campaign in St. Charles
Friday, June 26, 2009

WHO:   Mayor Patti York, Council Vice President Laurie Feldman and representatives from the St. Charles City Council will officially announce new recycling bins stationed throughout the various downtown historic districts in St. Charles (installation to occur June 25-30).  The collaborative effort involves widespread support from North Main, South Main and Frenchtown.

WHAT:   Thanks to a $15,000 grant from the St. Louis-Jefferson Solid Waste Management District and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the city will be able to install new recycling bins as follows:

    12 – Frenchtown
    12 – North Main
    10 – South Main

According to Laurie Feldman, this initiative also enabled the city to place three additional receptacles near the entrances of Frontier Park.  “In addition, the city provided an in-kind donation in the way of staff labor to process the orders and facilitate the actual set up,” she said.  “I applaud everyone involved and especially thank our staff members in Community Development for their support.”

WHERE      Greater Saint Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau, 230 South Main St.
& WHEN:   Wednesday, July 1 – 9:30 a.m.

ALSO:   The event will involve a brief tour of all three receptacle types with an official “ribbon-cutting” at approximately 9:45 a.m. in Frontier Park.
