Kevin Corwin Joins Public Works Staff in the Capacity of City Engineer
Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Kevin Corwin recently joined the St. Charles team as City Engineer in the Department of Public Works.  This position replacement reports to Debra Aylsworth, Director of Public Works.

“Kevin has more than a decade of experience in civil engineering,” said Aylsworth.  “We are lucky to have Kevin on board as his diversified experience, education and certifications have afforded him opportunities in a variety of areas, including roadway design, storm and sanitary sewer design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis/design, environmental permitting, storm water management, potable water system analysis/design, construction administration and land surveying.  There’s absolutely no doubt he’s well qualified for this position!

For the first ten years of his career, Corwin was employed as a civil engineering consultant with GBA in O’Fallon, and prior to that with Metropolitan Engineering and Surveying in Barnhart.  During that time, he worked almost exclusively with municipalities, helping them solve problems, find solutions and plan for the future.

“In addition, I’ve worked as a consultant in a combination of roles for municipal engineering, planning and community development, helping various cities complete comprehensive and redevelopment planning,” said Corwin.  “I also have expertise in managing new infrastructure and administering municipal codes and ordinances.  It is a pleasure to be a part of the city’s Public Works team, and I look forward to providing engineering support going forward.”

According to Corwin, he was located at Cottleville city hall for over two of his eight years with GBA, serving as that community’s consultant city engineer.  “Due to rapid growth and the associated influx of development and redevelopment, the city quickly recognized a need for a full-time staff person to develop and oversee their planning and engineering department,” he said.  “During my time there, I was especially proud of the groundwork we laid for future city infrastructure, economic development, and revitalization efforts for the city’s historic district.”

Corwin holds a masters of business administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.  He has numerous professional and civic affiliations, including:  American Society of Civil Engineers, American Public Works Association, Association of State Flood Plain Managers, Missouri Floodplain and Stormwater Managers Association, Missouri Association of City Clerks and Finance Officers, Missouri Municipal League, St. Charles County Economic Development Center, St. Charles County Planning Association, The Grant Institute, St. Charles Chamber of Commerce and Dardenne Creek Greenway Technical Advisory.

Corwin and his wife Holly reside in Dardenne Prairie with their three daughters, Emma (8), Ava (5) and Ella (3); the Corwin family attends First Baptist Church in O’Fallon.
