Wednesday, August 19, 2009
Matthew Seeds joined the St. Charles city team as Community Relations Liaison. This position replacement reports to Mayor Patti York with a dotted line reporting structure to Michael Spurgeon, director of administration.
“Matthew comes to us with a wealth of governmental relations background,” said Mayor York. “We are fortunate to have Matthew on staff as his diversified experience and education will be of great benefit and value to the city. Plus, he has been a St. Charles city resident for more than 24 years, so he’s already one of us, plugged in and ready to hit the ground running.”
Previously, Seeds was employed in a number of legislative capacities, including: chief of staff for State Representative Chuck Gatschenberger, legislative director for State Senator Gary Nodler, and campaign manager and Treasurer for State Senator Scott T. Rupp
According to Spurgeon, the position of community relations liaison is primarily focused on receiving and responding to citizen concerns regarding city operations. “In his new position,” Spurgeon said, “Matthew will be well-positioned to take appropriate action on behalf of city residents and business owners in an effort to resolve issues in a timely manner.”
Seeds indicated he considers it both an honor and a privilege to be selected for the community relations job. “I am grateful that I have the ability to give back to the community in which I have grown up. I look forward to working with the residents of St. Charles to resolve any issues promptly, and am excited to work with Mayor York, the St. Charles City Council as well as the entire city staff,” he said.
Seeds holds a B.A. in political science and a B.A. in public management with a business administration minor from Lindenwood University in St. Charles. He is currently in the process of pursuing an MBA in public administration from Lindenwood. Seeds was most recently a member of the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, and served as board member and secretary for the St. Charles City Parks and Recreation Board.
