Outdoor Ice Rink Coming to Historic St. Charles as a Part of the Christmas Traditions Festival

WHO: Nothing could be more romantic than ice skating arm-in-arm with your sweetheart or sharing this experience with your children during the Christmas holidays. With traditional yuletide carols floating in the air, you can twirl to your heart’s content. This special holiday attraction will be a chance to experience a scenic moment straight from a Norman Rockwell painting!
WHAT: A temporary outdoor ice rink will be installed this holiday season in Frontier Park along the Missouri riverfront in St. Charles as a part of the city’s on-going Bicentennial anniversary celebration.
“This temporary structure will be an instant centerpiece for our highly successful month-long Christmas Traditions festival, which draws an estimated 40,000 patrons each year,” said Mayor Patti York.
WHERE: Frontier Park – St. Charles Riverfront (adjacent to the Katy Depot).
WHEN: Friday, November 27 through Monday, January 4

Nov. 27-29, Dec. 5, 12-23, 26-30, January 1-4 ~ Noon-9p
December 2-4 & 9-10 ~ 4-9p
December 6 ~ Noon-5:30p
December 24 ~ 11a-2p
December 31 ~ Noon-12:30a
Admission $6 / Under 12 yrs. $5 / Group Rates Available (15+)
Skate Rental $3 or Bring Your Own / Concessions Available
ALSO: This 120 x 50-foot rink will open in conjunction with the 2009 Christmas Traditions festival. Skate rentals will be available or patrons may bring their own. Admission will be $6 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Skating sessions will last about two hours each. Concessions will be available in the Katy Depot.
“With 20 colorful characters and Santas from around the world, parades, train displays, carolers, 10,000 feet of fresh greenery and 1,200 hand-tied red velvet bows, thousands of sparkling white lights, and a new outdoor ice rink – St. Charles will undoubtedly be the premier family-friendly holiday destination this December,” Mayor York added.
