Here's the complete activity schedule for your easy reference:
. Friday, October 9 in Frontier Park (500 South Riverside Drive) -- a western-themed event complete with live entertainment, food and beverages will kick-off the Bicentennial from 6 to 10 p.m. along the banks of the Missouri River. We'll have hayrides by Centennial Carriages, a performance by the Pearl Handle Band, an intermission show by Marty Tipton -- The Oklahoma Kid -- Trick Roper, and an outdoor movie presented by the Frenchtown Association. Come on out and enjoy this riverside venue complete with BBQ served by local restaurants.
. Saturday, October 10 in Blanchette Park (1900 West Randolph Street) -- St. Charles' Bicentennial parade begins at noon from the Lewis & Clark Boat House with an old-fashioned picnic hosted by the St. Charles Parks & Recreation Department to be held in the park from 2 to 6 p.m. The Patt Holt Singers & Dancers will perform in Bums Hollow, and Carol Watkins will provide storytelling for kids of all ages. Enjoy a host of family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon, including a Vintage Baseball Game to be played at 3 p.m. Concessions to be provided by the Parks Department.
NOTE: From the Boat House, the parade will make a left on Boone's Lick Road, right on Main Street, left on Clark, right on Kingshighway and left on Randolph to Blanchette.
. Sunday, October 11 in Wapelhorst Park (1874 Muegge Road) -- during this afternoon event, to be held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., the city will showcase local talent during its homegrown version of Saint Charles Star. A group of 14 city residents will participate in the competition finals representing two categories: Junior Star and Adult Star. The winner in the youth division will receive a yearlong scholarship with the Patt Holt Singers, with the top adult winners to receive scholarship opportunities to Lindenwood University.
