St. Charles Hosts Ground-Breaking for Sidewalk Extension Project
Friday, July 09, 2010

WHO:   Mayor Patti York, the St. Charles City Council and the city's Department of Public Works will host a ground-breaking ceremony to kick-off the Bainbridge and Barthel sidewalk extension project.  Construction will extend 4,661 linear feet of sidewalks along Bainbridge, Barthel, Emmons, Transit, and Fourth Street.  Attending next week’s event will be a host of local dignitaries from both the city and county.

WHAT:   The goal of the sidewalk extension project is to create a contiguous system of pedestrian facilities that support a walkable community in St. Charles.  This contiguous system will provide safe access to schools, parks, popular destinations, trails, and other facilities for all residents and visitors to the city, with defined separation from vehicular traffic.  The construction project is anticipated to begin in July and will be completed in September of this year.
