Since the animals that the City shelters often are strays, the City of St. Charles can not guarantee these animals have all proper vaccinations required by the State of Missouri. Therefore the city has established a return policy for all animals adopted from the City Animal Control Shelter.

There is a 30 day return policy on all animals adopted from the City Animal Shelter from the date of adoption for one or more of the following reasons:

• Medical reasons involving animal's health
• Children/adult allergies
• Compatibility with family members
• Compatibility with present pets

All adoption papers must be returned with the animal. The City allows up to one (1) year to adopt another animal from the date of return. THERE ARE NO CASH REFUNDS. You will receive a copy of your return papers. Keep these papers in order to obtain your adoption within the one (1) year waiting period.
