The Community Development Department is responsible for:

• Planning and zoning
• Code enforcement
• Producing a variety of cartographic products for Boards, Commissions, and the community
• Fielding complaints regarding property maintenance or code violations
• Performing building inspections
• Issuing building permits
• Keeping everyone informed on development and redevelopment proposals
• Making recommendations on rezonings, site plans, subdivisions, annexations, historic preservation, signs, and many other items
• Creating and implementing several major plans and strategies
• Administering the Community Development Block Grant
