A Message from the Director

The City of Saint Charles is a charming historic community that attracts 1.5 million visitors annually. The City is centered in the bull's eye of the central U.S. marketplace. Located just seven miles west of St. Louis-Lambert International Airport on I-70, access is easy via air or land.  Interstate 70 connects to a network of interstates, I-270, I-55, I-44, and I-64.

The City of St. Charles is one of the largest cities in the St. Louis region in the fastest growing county in the metropolitan area. Growth is the defining characteristic of St. Charles County, having a population increase of 33.3% since 1990 to 280,883 in 2000. Subsequently, US Census officially placed the count at 320,427 in 2004, another 12% increase.

Growth increases the number in the workforce of already some 163,000 skilled and semi skilled workers. More than 13,000 graduates of the regions colleges and universities enter the workforce annually. Over 1,000,000 workers, ages 18 to 55, are within a 30 mile radius of St. Charles - on average 12-15 new businesses open on a monthly basis.

St. Charles would be delighted to provide additional information including our video, St. Charles: The City That Works, for your review. If you are considering expanding or relocating, we can also provide a CD of demographics, available buildings, and sites for your consideration.  Please e-mail the Economic Development Department using the Contact Us form or call (636) 949-3231.
