Prepare for a Disaster

In recent times, the City has seen natural disasters such as floods, hail, and violent wind. Because natural disasters often occur without warning, the Fire Department and City Emergency Management Office  recommends that all homes, schools, and businesses have a Disaster Supplies Kit.

Your Disaster Supply Kit should include:

  • water
  • food
  • first aid supplies
  • clothing and bedding
  • tools and emergency supplies such as a flashlight
  • special items for medical conditions

Ideally, you would have enough supplies to last three days. Supplies should be kept in a large easy-to-carry, easy-to-access container or backpack.

For more detailed information on emergency preparedness for home, school, and work, visit the American Red Cross web site.
