The Street Division maintains the City’s streets, sidewalks, storm sewers, and sanitary sewers.  The division is responsible for maintaining about 460 miles of streets within the City.  This includes:

• street sweeping
• snow and ice removal (view our Snow Route map)
• flood control
• pavement maintenance
• installing and maintaining traffic signals
• repairing pot holes
• repairing and replacing signs
• repairing and replacing concrete curbs, gutters, slabs, and sidewalks
• coordinated the Adopt-A-Roadway program

The Street Division also:

• cleans and maintains sanitary and storm sewers
• clears creeks
• maintains trees
• controls weeds and grass on city right-of-ways
• maintains the vehicles and equipment assigned to Public Works and Community Development
• operates the St. Charles Area Transit System (SCAT) transit system
