Hello Ward 3 Residents,
Welcome to our continuing winter, but Spring can’t be far behind, the Mallard ducks are back on the little pond behind my home!
Well, I was a bit off on some dates. Streets of St. Charles is ready to start work in March or April…..we had some “snags” that required resolution before we could get the funding for infra-structure in place for them. As I have told you before, things take much more time than I would like, to get to resolution! Talks continue with Show-Me Aquatics regarding the proposed community center, but it is difficult raising money in this economic time and though we will have the $30M in bonds that voters approved, we continue to look to them for additional funds. Stay tuned.
On SATURDAY, APRIL 10TH the city will celebrate Earth Day/Month by partnering with WITS foran all city Electronic Recycle day from 8:00-Noon. This event will be held in the St. Charles Arena Parking Lot (Northeast corner) All you have to do is drive up! Here’s what can be brought to this location for recycling:
WITS accepts EVERYTHING with a power chord, has a circuit board, takes batteries or gas including batteries and lawn equipment. All Computer related and household electronics accepted including phones, radio, televisions, cable boxes, and appliances
NO CHARGE FOR ITEMS dropped off with proof of city residence
We offer Tax Deduction & Hard Drive security/destruction
Paints, Tires, Household chemicals, furniture NOT accepted
Census 2010…..On April 1, 2010 residents of the City of Saint Charles and across America will be participating in the 2010 United States Census. A complete and accurate Census count of St. Charles residents is critical if we are to maintain or improve upon our current level of Federal program funding. It is estimated that Missouri could lose $1 Million in Federal funds for every 100 residents not counted in the Census. An incomplete count could also affect Missouri Congressional Representation and future Federal funds allocated to our local government. We want the City of Saint Charles to be the leading city in Saint Charles County for their percentage of resident representation in the Census. To learn more about the Census and how it effects you please go to http://2010.census.gov/2010census/ . Click on the News link above to view photos of the official bag and badge of the census workers. Check out the billboards on 70. Forms should begin arriving in your homes during the month of March.
There are many activities happening around St. Charles. Visit the Convention and Tourism Bureau website at www.historicstcharles.com for dates and times for the events. The Fete De Glace Ice Festival was amazing!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read the newsletter and stay informed about all the exciting things happening in Ward 3 and in the City of St. Charles. I hope you won’t hesitate to call or drop me a line if you have topic suggestions for the future. As always, I look forward to hearing from you.
