Hello Everyone!
Residents: Please consider submitting an application to serve on one or more of the City Boards, Commissions, or Committees. Currently there are vacancies on the Audit Committee, Beautification Commission, Building Board of Appeals, Cemetery Advisory Committee, Fair Housing Commission, Fourth of July Celebration Committee, and Strategic Plan Implementation Committee. Applications may be obtained from the Mayor's Office by calling 636/949-3268 or you can print off an application from our home page. The applications are located under the "Residents" section - "Volunteer Opportunities" - "Municipal Volunteers".
The Elections have been held and the results are as follows: Jerry Reese, Dave Beckering, Ron Stivison ran unopposed and were elected. Mike Klinghammer was reelected and Bridget Ohmes is our new councilmember from Ward 10. The council remains strong and stable and working hard in the best interest of the residents. Wards one through five will run next year.
We had a wonderful turnout at our Neighborhood Meeting. Sixty-five residents attended, one of them took excellent notes, which I've posted in the Newsletter (click the News Icon on this page).
I have also added a video stream of the Neighborhood Meeting in case you weren't able to attend. (click the link under the News Icon on this page to view).
The City of St. Charles Public Works Department invites you to celebrate Public Works Day, Friday, May 7, 2010, at Mueller Road Soccer Park 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (rainout day May 14th). Several activities are planned for the day: Red Light/Green Light, Decorating a Snowplow, Face Painting, and Rules of the Road Trike Course. All children will have the opportunity to get their pictures taken while sitting on Public Works equipment. A hot dog lunch will be provided for all attendees from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Our electronic recycling day was a huge success! We partnered with WITS to take all items with motors, or plugs, as well as computer equipment and appliances. We had a steady stream of cars for five hours and filled 18 fifty-three foot trailers with "stuff"! The items will be broken down and as much as possible and be recycled. The computers will be reconditioned, after the hard drives are destroyed, and given to folks who can't afford one.
Our new park is seeing lots of activity. It has become a real gathering place for our neighborhoods. If you would like to donate a tree, please go to the Parks Department website: www.stcharlesparks.com
