Fifth Street Traffic Calming

A traffic calming study is being performed on 5th Street in order to determine possible countermeasures to help reduce speeding and crashes. 

Location: 

5th Street from Morgan to Randolph

Schedule:

  • Collection of 10 or more resident signatures  to start the traffic calming process - COMPLETED
  • Review and analyze 5th Street’s eligibility - COMPLETED
  • Meet with Ward’s Council Member to review collected information
    • Eligibility Form – COMPLETED
    • Provide a Survey – COMPLETED open until January 7, 2022

    • Feedback
  • Design / Feasibility  of traffic calming devices
  • Meeting #2
    • Residents vote on proposed traffic calming design
  • City Review and Approval
    • Director of Administration, Police Chief, Fire Chief, and City Council
  • Installation of traffic calming device(s)
  • City Staff Evaluates Effectiveness of Traffic Calming Device(s)
    • Review after 6 months
    • Removal
      • 2 years from implementation, the residents must have a petition of 51% households approval to have the traffic calming devices removed
