The Purpose
The I-70 and Zumbehl Road interchange area is a commercial hub in the center of the City of Saint Charles. Multiple retail developments including Bogey Hills Plaza, Regency Plaza, and Zumbehl Commons house major retailers such as Walmart, Sam’s Club, Dierbergs, and Schnucks. The area has also seen recent redevelopment with the addition of Popeye’s, and now Chick-fil-A and Chipotle at the previous Red Roof Inn site. The City would like to provide increased connectivity and redundant routes to our users in the area in order to increase business access and lower travel times.
Construction expected to begin in Spring of 2023 and be complete by early 2024.
Improvements
- Construct a new roadway from the proposed Chick-fil-A development, over Cole Creek, to the existing Plaza Way.
- Build a new culvert/bridge across Cole Creek. Replace portions of Regency Plaza
- New sidewalks will be installed for easy pedestrian access.
