Document Shredding / Electronic Recycling Event
The City of Saint Charles is offering a Document Shredding and Electronic Recycling Event on Saturday, November 12, 2022. THIS EVENT IS FOR CITY OF SAINT CHARLES RESIDENTS ONLY. Identification and proof of residency is required. Those residing in unincorporated Saint Charles County territory do not qualify.
WHERE: Ameristar Casino Lower Parking Lot | 1304 South Main Street
WHEN: 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Each resident will be allowed up to up to three banker’s box sized boxes or bags of documents to shred. There will be two trucks available and shredding will be conducted onsite. All shredded paper products are warranted to be properly shredded for document security purposes, and are recycled so as not to fill up our landfills.
Depending on the size and type, a limited number of certain electronics items will be allowed, as indicated below.
Limited Free Electronics Recyclables:
Large items – Only one per household
- CRT TVs 27" and larger
- Console/DLP/Rear Projection TVs
Smaller items – maximum 2 per household
- CRT TVs 26" and smaller
- LED/LCD/Plasma TVs
- CRT monitors
- Any Freon containing device (air conditioners)
The following values are placed on each of these items. Once a maximum value of $5,000 (electronics recyclables) is reached, residents will be charged for electronics recycling according to the pricing schedule below. Credit cards will not be accepted; only cash or check.
- CRT TVs 27" and larger: $50.00 each
- Console/DLP/Rear Projection TVs: $50.00 each
- CRT TVs 26" and smaller: $30.00 each
- LED/LCD/Plasma TVs: $20.00 each
- CRT monitors: $5.00 each
- Any Freon containing device: $10.00 each
Unlimited Free Recyclables:
Just about any item with an electrical cord or that takes a battery, such as:
- Small kitchen appliances
- Computer monitors
- (CRT monitors in limited numbers per household)
- Hard drives
- DVD Players
- Cell phones
- Fax machines
- Answering machines
- Power tools
PLEASE DO NOT BRING:
These items are not acceptable for recycling at events.
- Smoke Detectors
- Glass Lamps
- Light Bulbs
- Fluorescent Tubes
- Alkaline Batteries
- Magnetic Media
- Optical Discs
